Our one-day course is based on the IET Code of Practice for In-service Inspection & Testing of Electrical Equipment 5th Edition. Providing you with the skills and knowledge to competently undertake the Inspection & Testing of electrical equipment (fitted with a plug). This course covers essential theory and understanding of the risks associated with electrical equipment, focusing on the practical aspects of undertaking formal visual inspection and testing.

  • Course Duration: One day.
  • Delivery: Classroom/workshop-based.
  • Assessment Method: Three practical assessments, identification of plug top faults, construction and testing of an equipment power lead, formal visual inspection and test of items of electrical equipment. Plus a multi-choice end-point assessment paper.
  • Accreditation: Independently CPD Certified, learners will receive a CPD-certified certificate of attendance from GCS Doncaster Ltd upon completion.

Course Aims & Objectives

This course is ideal for anyone looking to carry out the inspection and testing of electrical equipment within the workplace. (Fitter with a plug). It will enable delegates to understand the legal requirement for undertaking “PAT” testing, the competencies required, identification of classes of equipment, how to undertake formal visual inspections, along with the relevant electrical tests using Kewteck PAT testing equipment. This course does not cover fixed items of electrical equipment; further competency training, such as Safe Isolation & LOTO training, will be required to provide proof of competency to carry out testing on fixed equipment, such as our MES03 Safe Isolation & LOTO Procedures training.

Delivery

This course is delivered by a time-served electrical engineer with over thirty-five years of contracting experience. Over twenty years of that being a Director and Electrical Duty Holder for a FTSE100 PLC and an Electrical Utility Supplier, a former NIC EIC QS & PDH. A Member of the IET, A licentiate of City & Guilds and holder of the level 3 award for Education & Training.
